Casual Wear on Beach |
In sports it is
often common for women to wear a sports bra while playing. When we watched the
movie “Branded” with the scene about Brandi Chastain’s iconic moment of taking
her jersey off revealing her sports bra changed the world. The penalty kick was
overshadowed when the sports bra was sown by Brandi. This was my motivation for
picking of this week’s clothing for females in sports because how much
controversy women get compared to men. Women are more sexualized when it comes
to them playing sports. Some women in our society make more money from modeling
agencies and landing endorsements through feminine products. When looking at
advertisements or commercials of women in the sports bra, the product shows not
much of sports being played in. Shows that it can be causally around and socially
accepted to wear outside in public. Women tend to work out in a sports
sometimes to get a more comfortable lift in. There are many workout brands that
women consume from. The most popular one I know is the brand called Gymsshark. Society
has come a long way since the world cup penalty kick celebration. Holds females
to more of a confident way to hold their bodies. That they should not be ashamed
of their bodies of the shape. Women’s track is known for using a sports bra as
their jerseys. Even at the highest professional level with the Olympics we see
the sports bra being used in women’s track. Women still get sexualized in
sports because of what the broadcasters will get more views. For example, when
it comes to playing beach volleyball, women are often wearing bikinis or sports
bras. Men are likely to be more interested in this sport because of it being
more revealing even though they are professional athletes just playing
volleyball. Coming from a volleyball background it’s a social norm to be
wearing beach sport wear since you would be sweating and diving on the sand. It’s
easier to wear a swimsuit and not get too much sand on while playing because the
sand would stick to the sweaty clothes.
